Writing a book is a lot like building a sandcastle. You’re on very shaky ground, scared of the incoming tide, until you start slowing building each portion and then you see what your creativity can truly build.

Good luck to all the writers this month who are working on getting their novel written for November’s National Novel Writing Month ( #NaNoWriMo ). I’m doing it too, hoping to get lots of writing done on my current manuscript! One thing I find helpful is to start very early in the morning before I do anything else. Before I check email, before I check the news, before I do anything else besides have my morning coffee. Otherwise I start thinking about that when I should be thinking about my characters. I’m a morning person and the earlier I start, the better off I am. How about you?

The photo was taken in PEI this summer when I came upon this beautiful abandoned sandcastle by the ocean.
